Villa Foundation signs MOU (agreement) with Monash University Malaysia and International Islamic University Malaysia

Villa Foundation, the first Donor Charity Organization in the Maldives , had recently signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Monash University Malaysia and the International Islamic University Malaysia .

The agreement was signed on Thursday, 19 th of May 2005, between the Pro Vice-chancellor, Professor Merilyn Liddell, of Monash University and Mr. Qasim Ibrahim, the Founder of Villa Foundation and Chairman of Villa Group of Companies. The Foundation's Director, Educational Services, Mr. Hussain Alim Shakoor, Legal Advisor, Mr. Shahdy Anwar, its Consultant, Mr. Mohamed Naseem and Executive Director Mr. Phang Koon Tuck and Mr. Lee Weng Keng, the CEO, Education and Healthcare Division of the Sunway Group attended this auspicious and memorable ceremony.

The agreement of mutual cooperation and understanding signed between the Villa Foundation and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) was signed on Friday, 20 th of May 2005 by Mr. Qasim Ibrahim of Villa Foundation and Prof. Dr. Mohamad Kamal B. Hassan, Rector of IIUM. Mr. Qasim Ibrahim, during his speech at the ceremony, announced a donation of Ringgits 100,000 towards the IIUM Endowment Fund (WAQF), which provides aide to disadvantaged students from over100 countries around the world.

The signing of these agreements will enable the Foundation to further strengthen the immediate relationship with the two universities and provide opportunities to many Maldivians to acquire a quality education in a friendly and trusted environment.
